Cast List

STEVE—He/him, 26. Steve has worked in Washington, DC for five years after graduating from Cornell with a degree in international relations. Originally from Las Vegas and with two parents who work in the casino industry, he understands the power of setting the rules of the game. He will argue zealously for a position he believes in but is often willing to “disagree and commit” if the Powers That Be go in another direction. That said, he has also quit two jobs where he wasn’t happy with the ethical implications of management’s decisions. He enjoys playing Therimoire, a collectable card game, and going to concerts and movies with friends. He is in what is currently a long-distance relationship.

CHRISTINE & OTHERS— She/her, 36. Originally from the Lenox Hill neighborhood on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Christine earned her undergrad degree in political science from Columbia and MBA from the Tepper School of Business (specializing in supply chain management) at Carnegie Mellon. She worked in Chicago for a few years before being recruited to work as a policy influencer in DC. She excelled at the work, left her original organization (the one Taylor currently works for) because she saw a faster path forward through her current shop (the one she, Austin, Morgan, and Steve work for), and has succeeded beyond all expectations. A highly skilled ballet student, at the age of fifteen Christine was given the choice of either starting professional training or attending traditional high school and dancing on the side. She chose the latter path but can still kick ass in a barre or Pilates class. She is partners with Terry, who she met when the latter was getting her PhD at Georgetown and with whom she has recently rekindled a relationship. She enjoys opera, ballet, and classical music. Also plays: MADISON, CLERK, and KENDALL.

TAYLOR & OTHERS—They/them, 28. A barista who works for an unnamed organization that invests their money and influence to effect and benefit from long-term change. They have worked for their current group for five years and at Faraday’s Coffee shop for three. They have a combined BS/MArch in architecture from Stanford (five-year program) and keep their hand in with some design work referred by their current employer. They enjoy going to museums and creating illustrations that have attracted a decent following in DC-area social circles. Also plays: JAMIE, PROFESSOR GREEN, RECYCLING, and ROBIN CAMPBELL.

AUSTIN & OTHERS—He/him, 47. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Austin earned his undergraduate business degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He has worked as a policy entrepreneur for just over twenty years and with his current organization for about ten years. He left his previous position after failing to handle the pressure related to a promotion, which scarred his psyche. When he was given the choice of accepting more responsibility for the Con Con or being let go, he agreed to move up but fell into his previous habits. This failure led to him losing focus, misplacing his car, and unreasonably demanding Steve bail him out. He recognizes his mistake and apologizes indirectly in the scene where the consultants arrive to brainstorm a plan of action, but he understands that he likely will be let go after this project. Austin helped found Singers Glen Brewing, though his involvement isn’t publicized. He will likely turn to that venture full time after he leaves his current position and be much happier for it. Also plays: INTERVIEWER 2 and PROFESSOR MUSTARD.

MORGAN & OTHERS— She/her, 41. Originally from Palo Alto, California. Morgan turned down multiple volleyball scholarship offers from Division II schools to study business at Stanford (her time did not overlap with that of Taylor). She tried her luck with a few startups founded by her classmates (no liquidity events) before having her uncle, who retired from the casino industry, recommend her for a position in DC. That acquisition earned her a decent but not life-changing payout, after which she found her way into the policy world. She is an avid amateur chess player (typically rated around 1900 on Chess.com, which puts her in the top 1% of players on the site), plays upper-division rec league volleyball when her ankles aren’t bugging her too much, and loves to travel. She is not currently in a relationship, but she is fond of Larry. She was working with Larry four years ago when the team they were on imploded and they needed mutual support to manage the aftermath. Also plays: ANNALEE HARRINGTON and TERRY.

LARRY & OTHERS—He/him, 43. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, Larry was adopted by a family in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a baby. He earned his undergraduate degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota but decided to earn his master’s degree in information systems (University of Wisconsin) rather than stay on the theoretical and research side. One of his contract jobs in Chicago turned out to be for a company that had customers in the DC area; because of his people skills, he transitioned into a sales support role. After a few years a client recognized his potential on the policy side and asked if he would be interested in moving into that industry. He did and was incredibly successful as a relatively rare techie who interacts effectively. Larry enjoys hiking, travel, and reading. He is quite fond of Morgan. Also plays: INTERVIEWER 1, JODY, PRODUCER, PROFESSOR SCARLET, and TRASH.
